About my Blog

Here, I will discuss solo travel from the perspective of a 23-year-old woman. I will also discuss the ethical and socio-political issues surrounding travel, including, but not limited to, sustainable travel, volunteering abroad, and inclusive travel.

An understanding approach to Sustainable Travel

Because we all have different circumstances, such as budgets, time, and accessibility requirements, the message is not about tourists and travellers needing to be ‘perfect’ when going away. For example, as a young woman, I will likely use taxis more often than walk, particularly in the dark, due to safety concerns.

Instead, it is about becoming aware and then doing what you can as a traveller. Sometimes, this can benefit you as well. For example, using locally owned businesses can often save you money as a traveller, plus visiting off-the-beaten-path destinations means you can escape the crowds.

I recognise that governments and businesses have a strong role to play in enabling sustainable travel. However, the small actions we take as travellers can have a significant impact on the surrounding community.

About me

I will keep this brief, as I have a separate post where I introduce myself.

But born in the UK, I have so far travelled in Europe and South East Asia. I have volunteered in both Bali and Cambodia.

This year, I aim to spend more time exploring Europe and South East Asia, whilst I aim to spend time working in Australia.

Beside this, I am one of these people who has too many hobbies and not enough time for any of them. Nonetheless, I like anything creative, some sporty activities, although I want to be that person who calls travel a lifestyle.

I mainly travel solo, although I also enjoy travelling with friends. I have a preference for ‘slow travel’, partly because of its ethical benefits, but also because it is then easier to pick up work/exchanges, balance making content, and meeting people.

When travelling, I enjoy exploring less well known places, connecting with locals, and of course trying anything new- be it a different kind of market, a new activity, or food.
